After 28 days and over 3900 nautical miles, the Around the Americas crew made it to Hilo, Hawai’i! 🌺⛵️
Galápagos Islands to Hawai’i has been our longest open water crossing yet, and it feels great to touch solid ground! We spent our 28 days adjusting sails, reading, fixing fixing fixing, connecting virtually with students, computer work, being overly competitive with NYT games, cooking, napping, bird & star watching, and lots of laughing. We were thankful for downwind sailing for majority of our passage. Some days were uncomfortable, some incredible. Thankfully, our autopilot started working again during our last days at sea after troubleshooting with helpful input from our ground crew! 28 days at sea, spirits stayed high… and now we’re officially back in the states! What an amazing team. We are excited to connect here in Hawai’i and find out what the islands have to bring! 🌎🌊
