When traveling through the coastal islands off Labrador, the One Ocean crew saw someone with a silky black coat peer over the rock edge- a black bear!! We watched it leap down to the water and explore the shoreline. While their diet is primarily terrestrial, these black bears utilize marine resources when they’re available. Black bears are opportunistic omnivores- eating both plants and animals, consuming whatever food source is available. Black bears are also excellent swimmers which allows them to reach different areas for foregoing. 🌿🌊🐾
